Carlo Scarpa was born in Venice in 1906. An architect, designer and artist, Scarpa left the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 1926 and started his professional works. However, he continued to visit craft ateliers and Venetian master glass artists. For 20 years, until the second half of the 1940s, he partook in various projects to design and sketch buildings.
Carlo Scarpa’s works in fields from architecture to glassblowing, design projects to museum exhibitions, have always stood out thanks to his love for materials, interest in details, and masterful blend of organic details.
