Born in 1922, Dino Gavina began his career by preparing state sets, which was his biggest passion, in the 1940s.
Believing that design should be both modern and poetic, Gavina’s ideas were soon supported by the country’s leading architects and designers such as Carlo Scarpa, Enzo Mari, and Marcel Breuer. Gavina’s works from that period became the starting point of the movement which would later be called the “Italian style.”
Dino Gavina is known for the furniture company Gavina SpA which manufactured the works of Italian designers in the 1950s and 1960s. Though he was a special supporter of modern design, Gavina could not prevent his company from going bankrupt due to his lack of skills in accounting and business management.
